Determination Of Zakat E-Sports According To The Islamic Law Perspective

E-Sports (Electronic Sports) is a trend that is well-liked by the young generation of today, so it has evolved into one of the professions that generates a very attractive income through various e-sports-related activities. Therefore, this study aims to find out the zakat provisions of athletes or players in the e-sports industry. Qualitative methods are implemented in this study by using data collection and data analysis methods. The data collection method is done through library research, and the data obtained is analyzed based on inductive, deductive, and comparative methods to obtain comprehensive research results. Based on the analysis completed, the findings of this study demonstrate that earning money through involvement in the e-sports sector falls under the category of al-māl al-mustafād which is required to issue zakat based on the consensus of scholars, and zakat al-māl al-mustafād has been fatwad in the state of Selangor since 2001.
Abstrak
E-Sukan (Sukan Elektronik) adalah satu aktiviti baharu yang mendapat sambutan dalam kalangan generasi muda masa kini, sehingga menjadi salah satu kerjaya yang mendatangkan pendapatan yang sangat lumayan melalui beberapa aktiviti yang berkaitan dengan industri e-sukan ini. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketentuan zakat para atlet atau pemain dalam industri e-sukan. Metode kualitatif dilaksanakan dalam kajian ini dengan menggunakan kaedah pengumpulan data dan analisis data. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyelidikan perpustakaan dan data yang diperoleh dianalisis berdasarkan metode induktif, deduktif dan komparatif untuk mendapatkan hasil kajian yang menyeluruh. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan, maka hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penjanaan pendapatan melalui aktivit-aktiviti dalam industri e-sukan termasuk dalam kategori al-māl al-mustafād yang wajib dikeluarkan zakat berdasarkan kesepakatan ulama dan zakat al-māl al-mustafād telah difatwakan di negeri selangor sejak tahun 2001 lagi.
